In May 1976, we moved to Sumac Place in Westsyde, Kamloops BC. There were many young families and eventually 42 children on the block at one time. Today 11 out of 22 families are still here. Our children played together now our grandchildren are play together. Like anywhere this street had its tribulations of life – accidents, illness and death – yet we have stuck together and supported one another. We have celebrated throughout the years, Christmas get-togethers, community garage sales, weddings and well, just parties. This year to celebrate 35 years of living as neighbors, 3 couples flew to Las Vegas and cruised back to Vancouver. In August a reunion of neighbors past and present took place. We are 5 minutes from the backcountry, 5 minutes to the North Thompson River, 5 minutes from the Dunes Golf course and 45 minutes from wonderful Sun Peaks with its ski hills and spring flowers. Where else could you find this type of neighborhood and all these great amenities?
